We connect on OKC. Over the last year I have noticed him checking me out periodically. At one point I decided he didn’t fit what I was looking for and blocked his profile from showing up in my search results. But he persevered over time and eventually I connected with him.

Today’s date was sort of a tentative trial. He was very upfront about being a DOM in the BDSM community. I said I wasn’t interested in pain but was intrigued by the thought of bondage and rope work. We exchanged a couple more texts and agreed to meet today downtown to explore some cool building lobbies and atriums.

We meet at the Hyatt – I get there first and am wowed by the space. I have never been inside this space before. It’s amazing – open, glass elevators, multi level strings of lights hanging off the reverse levels of the hotel floors.
He eventually gets there, wearing a cute hat. Sort of geeky but in an endearing way. He is genuinely excited to be here and to explore.

He is giddy with showing me this space. We take the elevators up as high as we can go and walk around the balcony looking down and having a conversation about the patterns below with the brickwork, the tables, the carpets defining discrete spaces.

We go to the very end of the hotel and take in the view out to the water, watching the sailboats, overlooking the plaza and vendors. Then we head back down in the glass elevators – he is funny – says things like – it’s like a rocket ship – sort of geeky and silly

Back to the lobby and through the atrium and out to the backside of the hotel where it looks like a pyramid. We walk to the edge over looking the plaza behind the signage – and then down the stairs to the plaza itself. We see the samurai sculpture and he insists on showing me the work of this one photographer vendor and we walk through the other vendors and into the ferry building out to the back.

We meander around through the farmers market and to the water and watch a sailboat with red sails go by and then go around and up to the viewing platform where we watch a kermises (bird) dive and fish and swim great lengths underwater – popping up in unexpected places. Kind of like whack a mole.

Eventually we go in the ferry building and get a coffee and then lunch at the take out arm of Slanted Door – fresh spring rolls for me and a curry for him. We leave the ferry building and walk down the street to the old post office where Yang Sink is located but which also has another cool atrium and tables. We eat and talk getting to know each other.

Not sure what the connection is, if any but I am having a nice time. We compare notes about OKC and past relationships and talk about what we are looking for and books and theater and general stuff.

I say I have to go – its been several hours – and I need to get the dog to the park – so we walk back to Bart – he walks me down – and we say goodbye – with a long hug – he hugs me hard – not sure what to think about this – we say we will do something again.

This guy is sort of dorky and geeky and I don’t feel any spark at all but he was funny and nice and silly so I think I’d like to be friends—we’ll see how that goes over.
